We know AI artwork. It’s quick, fun, and unbelievable for spitballing concepts on your phone. But there is a massive difference between a glowing digital image on an iPhone screen and a high-density, screen-printed graphic built to survive 100 job site wash cycles on 10oz heavyweight fleece.
The biggest trap in modern apparel design is falling in love with a rough AI draft. Because you spent an hour tweaking prompts, your brain tells you the file is finished. But raw AI renders are structurally unprintable.
When you work with Low Tide Flow, we ask you to do one thing: detach from the rough digital draft. Bring us your AI generations for inspiration, let go of the glitchy pixels, and let a team with decades of print judgment refine your vision into an indestructible design your crew will actually be proud to rock off the clock.
AI image models don't understand screen printing, mesh counts, squeegee pressure, or physical ink behavior. Here is why raw AI outputs fail on press:
RGB Monitor Light vs. Physical Ink Pigment: AI renders images using millions of glowing RGB screen pixels. Screen printing uses physical spot inks mixed to exact Pantone channels. Raw AI gradients turn into muddy, unprintable smears when pushed through a screen without manual color separation.
Raster Pixel Grids vs. Vector Geometry: An AI render is a fixed grid of low-resolution pixels. Blow that file up across a 14-inch hoodie back, and it turns into blurry, pixelated noise. Screen printing requires clean, razor-sharp vector paths with infinite scalability.
Garbage Typography & Text Mutations: AI does not render vector glyphs - it guesses pixel shapes. The result is crooked line weights, alien lettering, and unreadable phone numbers. We strip out and destroy all AI text, replacing it with true production typography.
Garment Dynamics & Negative Space: AI doesn't understand that printing white ink on a Navy hoodie requires a flash underbase, while printing black ink on High-Vis Safety Orange uses negative fabric space.
We don't print blurry AI noise on custom gear out of politeness, and we don't charge you for unnecessary artwork time. We run a clear, 3-step pipeline to protect your order:
1. Free Initial Placement Proof (1–2 Business Days)
Submit your raw AI concept through our Spec Engine. We generate a free initial digital mockup using your raw file strictly to lock in sizing, garment color, and placement. Zero art fees are charged at this stage, and zero unpaid vector work is executed.
2. The $100 Vector Rebuild (Executed Upon Deposit)
Once your 50% order deposit is locked in, our art department executes a full $100 ground-up conversion:
3. Master Proof & High-Density Production
You receive a final, razor-sharp production vector proof for sign-off. Once approved, we burn the screens and run your gear.
Free Setup & Prep: If you have finalized, print-ready vector branding (.EPS, .SVG, or vector .PDF), we provide free typesetting, sizing optimization, and digital mockups. Submit your files to get a free proof back within 1–2 business days.
AI Graphics ($100 Conversion Fee): Raw AI renders carry a mandatory $100 processing fee per asset. Free initial proofs use your raw AI file strictly for general placement - full vector reconstruction is executed once your order deposit is locked in. Use AI for inspiration; let the pros make it press-ready.
Custom Concept Design: Need killer, ground-up creative work or complex illustration? That is our specialty, but we don’t work on spec. True custom apparel design requires an upfront design deposit, locked-in milestone approvals, and a strict “pay-to-play” structure. Let us know in your project brief if you need a creative consult.
